The National Weather Service (NWS) in Springfield, MO, confirmed that four tornadoes touched down on Sunday afternoon, March 15, 2026, across portions of Howell, Shannon, and Texas counties. No injuries or fatalities were reported. Details on each tornado are below.
Texas County (Between Cabool and Simmons)
The first tornado touched down at 3:37 PM in Texas County between the communities of Cabool and Simmons. The NWS rated the tornado EF-1, with estimated peak winds of 94 MPH. It was on the ground for just over a quarter-mile, with an estimated maximum width of 100 yards. Damage included several uprooted trees and two destroyed barns.
Howell County (North of Willow Springs)
The second tornado touched down at 3:50 PM in Howell County, north of the Willow Springs community. The NWS rated the tornado EF-0, with estimated peak winds of 85 MPH. It was on the ground for just under one mile, with an estimated maximum width of 75 yards. Along the path, several trees were uprooted or snapped, and a barn was lifted off the ground.
Howell County (Eunice)
The third tornado touched down at 3:55 PM in the unincorporated community of Eunice. The NWS rated the tornado EF-1, with estimated peak winds of 93 MPH. It was on the ground for just under two and a half miles, with an estimated maximum width of 100 yards. Multiple trees were uprooted or snapped, and a barn roof sustained damage.
Texas/Shannon County Line (South of Summerville)
The fourth tornado touched down at 4:08 PM near the Texas and Shannon county line, just south of the Summerville community. The NWS rated the tornado EF-0, with estimated peak winds of 85 MPH. It was on the ground for almost half a mile, with an estimated maximum width of 75 yards. Several trees were uprooted and limbs were snapped. Multiple structures sustained damage, including a barn roof that was partially removed and a metal roof that was ripped from its building, and several other buildings lost shingles.
