On June 7, 2025, a brief tornado touched down Saturday evening near the De Soto community. According to the Rural Fire District Chief Tom Fitzgerald, he stated that out of 53 structures in the path of the storm and of that amount 12 were significantly damaged or destroyed. There were no injuries being reported. The NWS storm survey concluded an EF-1 tornado touched down in southern Jefferson County. The tornado had max winds of 105mph, was 4.9 miles long, and had a maximum width of 300 yards.
