February 2024 Oklahoma Earthquake Felt Nearby

Graphic: USGS

On February 3, 2024, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake occurred Friday night in Oklahoma at 11:24 PM CST centered near the community of Prague, OK. Not only was it felt all over Oklahoma, but it was also felt in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas. Multiple people in the Joplin area via social media reported feeling the quake. I was in bed barely awake when I felt my home making a groaning sound. I initially thought either the wind blew very hard or that someone was in my home. I then thought wait did we just have an earthquake? I did reach out to a few nearby National Weather Service Offices via Twitter to report. The office in Springfield, MO responded, “We sure did! I know for sure we felt it here in Springfield.”

Did you feel it?
