In February 2025 with plentiful snow on the ground across the Ozarks region and vicinity, the temperatures early Thursday plummeted below zero. Numerous locations set new low temperature records for today’s date (2/20). The city of Joplin got down to -9° beating the old record for today’s date of °16 set back in 1963, 1978, and 2021. The city of Springfield, Missouri was even colder this morning with a low temperature of -12° breaking the old record for today’s date of 7° set back in 1918. Record lows were also set Thursday morning at locations such as: Branson, Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Harrison, Lebanon, Mountain Home, Oklahoma City, Rolla, Tulsa, West Plains, and Wichita.
