In January 2025 a winter storm from the 9 through the 10 affected most of the Ozarks region of Missouri and the Arkansas. The city of Joplin (Jasper and Newton counties) started off being under a Winter Weather Advisory, that would be later upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning. At one time the city of Joplin got under one of the storm bands that produced lower visibility. By the time the snow was over the city of Joplin saw 4 to 6 inches of snow. It was reported that the city of Neosho, MO saw 5 to 7 inches of the white stuff.
