In 2025 on Sunday, March 30 a line of thunderstorms developed over southeast Missouri, extending from Poplar Bluff to Cape Girardeau, before moving east toward the Mississippi River. The storms produced large hail and isolated damaging winds along this line. The most severe cell tracked through northern Scott and southern Cape Girardeau Counties, producing golf ball-size hail and minor wind damage. County Impacts: Ripley County: Dime- to nickel-size hail was reported at three locations in the eastern part of the county. Butler County: Hail and gusty winds accompanied the main line of storms. Scott County: One-inch hail was reported along Interstate 55. Stoddard County: Hail and gusty winds were observed with the passing storms. Cape Girardeau County: A barn lost its tin roof along Highway 74 west of I-55, and the debris knocked down power lines. Winds at the Cape Girardeau Airport peaked at 54 mph.
