- 48 – Jasper (Carl Junction, Carthage, & Joplin)
- 47 – Barry (Cassville & Monett)
- 46 – Jackson (Kansas City)
- 45 – St. Louis (St. Louis)
- 45 – Howell (West Plains)
- 44 – Cape Girardeau (Cape Girardeau)
- 43 – Butler (Poplar Bluff)
- 42 – Stoddard (Dexter)
- 42 – Scott (Sikeston)
- 42 – Christian (Nixa, Ozark, & Sparta)
- 40 – St. Charles (St. Charles)
- 40 – Pettis (Sedalia)
- 40 – Cass (Harrisonville)
- 40 – Callaway (Fulton)
For comparison, McDonald County in extreme southwest Missouri recorded only 24 tornadoes during the same period.
Statistically, May is Missouri’s most active month for tornadoes, followed by April and June. August averages the fewest tornadoes of any month.
